Description
Face painting has been around for several thousands of years and has been practiced by Native American tribes all over the country. It was used in tribal wars as camouflage and to confuse and startle the enemy. The use of red coloring was especially significant as a symbol of strength and power and was sometimes referred to as the color of war. More recently, the paint was and is used as an addition to the blast of colorful dress often seen in various ceremonies and festivals. This young guy is obviously unhappy and I'm not sure why. It could be that he is not at all happy about the prospect of having to perform in a local pow wow and would much rather be doing anything else. Whatever the reason, this beautiful and colorful painting will melt your heart. Enjoy...
